Consumer Concerns
Last Updated: 09/03
The bureau of Weights and Measures is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of each meter and scale that determines a charge to the consumer. Weights and Measures ensure that all packaged products contain the correct stated net weight or measure. The bureau also verifies the advertised or shelf price to assure agreement with the price determined by scanners at the checkout area. Correct weights and measures are a benefit to both consumers and manufacturers.

If you have a general question about Weights and Measures, please call (562) 622-0402. If you believe you have received short weight, measure or been overcharged, please call (562) 622-0400.

When you call, you will be asked for specific information, as indicated below. This will enable Weights and Measures inspectors to effectively investigate your concerns. In all cases, your name, address and phone number is important as it will allow us to contact you with the results of our investigation.
